Talking Guinea Pigs!?
Yeah.
That's a
stupid name.
Sorry about
that.
No
worries.
You have
some questions, or . . . ?
What on
Earth made you decide to write about guinea pigs from outer space
traveling to 19th century Russia?
Well, the
answer is simple at first blush, but then I have to go into a little
more about me. Basically, this comic was made with the intention
of combining all the things that I love into one project.
You love
guinea pigs, outer space, and 19th century Russia?
Yeah, sort
of. I love drawing guinea pigs. My first real comic as a kid
was about my pet guinea pig, Joe. It was a 160 page book of
nonsense. But it was really fun to make, and I've never had more
fun than drawing those silly little guinea pigs.
That's
one down...
I just love
sci-fi. I'm not like a huge lover of the genre, necessarily, as
much as the idea of the possibilities of technology and what the future
may hold. In a way, I'm a lover of science, and what potential it
has.
All
right, after that answer, I don't care anymore. Don't tell me
about the last part.
Well, since
you asked . . . for about two years I was obsessed with
Dostoevsky. I read nearly everything he wrote, with the exception
of a few short stories, and his non-fiction publications. I read
his major novels all two to three times each.
You have
a lot of free time on your hands.
You'd be
amazed at how much you can read if you simply commit to reading 20 pages
a day. That's about 600 pages a month. So almost a
Dostoevsky novel every month / month and a half.
What
about "War and Peace"? That's like a million pages.
More like
1,200. Also, that's Tolstoy. But I just started it! I
need to get back into that 20 pages a day routine, if I intend to get
anywhere.
OK, look,
I really don't care anymore.
OK . . .
well . . .
One last
question. What's up with Cagin' It?
It's a web
comic strip updated five times a week.
But the
drawings . . . they're all the same!
That's kind
of the point. It's really just a way for me to make a comic strip
that doesn't take the hours to make that my main project takes.
Alright,
I'm seriously done, now.
OK, thanks
for the questions . . . and the abuse.
